We must not allow our zeal to run headlong into Easter distract us from the beauty of Lent.
It is true, the joy of Easter is the celebration of God resurrecting depraved humans to new life… Amen! But it is on the Lenten road where Jesus first shows us how to truly live as human… Amen!
Jesus came to redeem the whole of what it means to be human, delivering heaven into the breath and bone of everyday earth.
As we continue our march toward Holy Week and the glory of Easter we will take time to linger in the corridors of Jesus’ human beauty, and in doing so discover ourselves more beautifully human.
REFLECT > repent > receive > rest > request > rehearse > recount
Like all things Kingdom, the road to Easter thinking is paved with Lenten learnings… and Jesus is the high teacher.
Thankfully, there is no blind leaping onto this road, Jesus invites us to reasonably measure our steps.
The illusory veil separating faith from reason has been burned away, it was consumed by Jesus’ mind-on-fire.
If we hope to more fully embody the humanity of Jesus’ creative, logical and factual mastery of reason we must first implore the Spirit to reveal the rebellious rubble of Eden blocking our path.
Today, as you reflect upon your intellectual life, ask the Spirit to identify the clutter and expand your capacities to reason more beautifully.
