Project Description
reflect > repent > receive > rest > REQUEST > rehearse > recount
Lenten rest expands outward, reconciling the people, places and things that surround your life.
The Parable of the Good Samaritan utterly destroys the false dichotomy of ‘us OR them’ …
It doesn’t matter who ‘them’ is, how you may differ from ‘them,’ or how you may disagree with ‘them.’
The gospel compels us, we must be FOR ‘them.’
We must pursue the wellbeing of ‘them’ above our own. Listen to ‘them,’ bless ‘them,’ rejoice with ‘them,’ value ‘them,’ weep with ‘them,’ honor ‘them,’
Who is your ‘them?’
READ AGAIN : Luke 10:25-37 – The Parable of the Good Samaritan
Today, survey your spheres of influence… who in your life is incapacitated with the wounds of alienation? Prayerfully ask the Spirit to reveal how your story of reconciliation, redemption and restoration in Jesus intersects their story. As they come to mind, pray for each person by name. And with the same deep emotion, clarity of thought and gut-twisting compassion Jesus demonstrated in reconciling love for you, intercede for ‘them’ – that they would become ‘us.’
Don’t ask, “Who is my neighbor?” Ask, “Whose neighbor am I?”
