Project Description

The precise angles of leverage needed to propel one another up the mountain of God’s truth are exacting.

Lifting someone directly out of the depths of isolating doubt with brute force rarely succeeds and is hardly repeatable. More often than not both wind up dead on the mountain. On the contrary…

A rehearsed story rescues lives.

So in the context of believing community hone your craft. Find your points of faith-building leverage, your doubt-overcoming stories of rest, and practice them again, and again and again.

And for those wondering if rehearsal and authenticity are mutually exclusive… I would argue that you’re more empowered to share your story with authenticity, creativity and clarity when you polish off the ‘nervous searching for words’ through repetition.

reflect > repent > receive > rest > request > REHEARSE > recount

This evening, in true Lenten fashion, I invite you to forgo your nightly Netflix rituals so you can rehearse your story of overcoming doubt. Now, your story doesn’t have to be about how you overcame your ultimate doubt in God’s existence (although it may be). Oftentimes, the more routine stories of overcoming doubt in day-to-day life are the most impactful for people to hear.

With the people you prayed for yesterday in mind, rehearse your story. Again, write it out, share it with a family member or trusted friend, record it on your phone.

An unpracticed story remains an untold story.

The likelihood of you actually sharing your story goes up exponentially if you practice it.

Remember, as you faithfully prepare to recount your story of doubt overcome, you’re humbly and prayerfully investing into the future rest of the restless God has intentionally placed in your life.
